Neck Adder Sample - This sample was played by Andrew Rothwell on a Japanese Fender Stratocaster fitted with a Rothwell Neck Adder

This lick is played first of all on the neck pickup only, followed by the bridge pickup only and then with the Neck Adder used to combine the bridge and neck pickups. Finaly, the bridge pickup alone is heard again for comparison. The bridge pickup alone can sound a little thin for some peoples taste. Combining it with some of the neck pickup fattens up the sound.

Sample 4 hi-res MP3. 973 KB

Hot Little Knob – Bridge pickup first in the down position (standard strat mode) and then in the up position.

Sample 5 hi-res MP3. 945 KB

Sample 6 hi-res MP3. 895 KB

Hot Little Knob – middle pickup, down then up.

Hellbender sound samples - All samples are played by Andrew Rothwell and were recorded using a small class A valve amp (1 x ECC83 pre-amp valve, 1 x EL84 output valve, custom made by Rothwell Audio Products) driving a 10" Celestion speaker, close mic'd with a dynamic microphone. No EQ used at mixdown.

Please note that in order to give you the best possible indication of the capabilities of the Hellbender, these audio samples have been recorded as 192 kb/s MP3. As a result they are all about 1.5 Mbytes. This shouldn’t be a problem for broadband users but modem users should expect download times of at least one minute each.

Blues/rock 12 bar rhythm tone, strat (bridge + middle pickups), Hellbender gain set to 9 o'clock, tone set to 2 o'clock.
