1) Remove the existing tone control.
2) Fit the Cool Little Knob in its place.
3) Connect the centre tap from the pickup to the terminal pad on the cool little knob as shown in the diagram.
4) Connect the green ground wire from the cool little knob to a convenient ground point ssuch as the back of one of the existing controls or the ground terminal of the output jack socket..
The Cool Little Knob will work on one pickup only. On a Les Paul style setup(two pickups, two volume controls and two tone controls), the obvious arrangement would be to replace the two tone controls with Cool Little Knobs. However, there are other options without having to drill holes in the guitar.
1) Two Cool Little Knobs plus master volume and master tone.
2) One Cool Little Knob (working on either the bridge or neck pickup, depending on personal preference) plus two volume controls plus one tone control wired either as a tone control for the “other” pickup or as a master tone control.
3) One Cool Little Knob plus two tone controls plus master volume.
These are just some of the possibilities. The Cool Little Knob is compatible with conventional tone controls (wiring for conventional tone controls is as normal) so the possibilities are more numerous if you are prepared to drill extra holes for controls or are having a guitar custom made.
