The Reflection Monoblock power amps
The Reflection monoblocks are a pair of powerful mosfet power amps capable of driving any speakers to room filling levels whilst retaining a refined presentation, full of detail and subtlety. They produce a wide and deep soundstage and create a very tactile image without ever causing listener fatigue. This superb performance has been achieved by carefully refining the circuit design to eliminate non-linearities within each amplification stage so that the amplifier isn't relying on global feedback to make corrections. This not only allows each stage to function correctly, it also makes the amplifier very stable when driving difficult inductive or capacitive loads. In a lab an amp may drive an 8 ohm resistive load perfectly, but real loudspeakers (and their cables) present a much more difficult task which must be handled with aplomb to carry off a convincing musical performance.
The driver and power stages are further optimised by using seperate power supplies for the two very different requirements - high precision and high power. That means a pair of Reflections have a total of four independant power supplies to draw on and the benefits of this approach can be heard quite clearly in the effortless musical presentation. The amps also have generous heatsinks and accurate thermal tracking of the bias control so that they can deliver high power without causing drifts in the operating conditions.
Each individual power amp is carefully hand built in the UK using top quality components such as double bypassed coupling capacitors (low loss polypropylene types) silver plated solid core PTFE insulated wire and custom wound torroidal transformers. The combination of all these elements is simply superb audio performance which allows the music to communicate without the hardware getting in the way.
