The August 2004 edition of guitarist magazine gave the Stompjuice an excellent review stating that “We’re in no doubt as to the design integrity and performance of this little unit”. They were impressed by both the “Bomb proof construction and affordable price tag” of the stompjuice adding that “the stompjuice represents first class value”. The review concludes by stating that “if you’re after a convenient way of powering your pedals and saying goodbye to batteries forever, the stompjuice is it”. The full guitarist review can be seen here.

The Christmas 2004 edition of Guitarist magazine gave the Hot Little Knob a five star gold award. The only thing they could fault was the slightly risqué name. The verdict starts by saying that “Rothwell’s HLK is impressive and an easy way to get more from your guitar”, and they continue by saying that “for this price it’s probably the cheapest and easiest way to expand your tonal palette, and when you hear how good it sounds you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it”. The HLK was awarded the maximum five stars in all the review categories (Build quality, Playability, Sounds and Value for money”. The full review can be seen here.

Rothwell Inline Attenuators have been a top seller for many years now and have received many excellent reviews.
The December 2003 edition of Gramophone magazine stated that the Rothwell Attenuators created “... a massive improvement in impact, dynamics and involvement, the sound gaining space and presence, and simply sounding more real. This accessory is heartily recommended”.
The January 2003 edition of What hi-fi? Sound and vision concluded by saying that “In a nutshell, with these in place you can wind up the volume knob without bursting your eardrums. You get more openness, focus and greater low-level detail”.
In issue 19 of Hi-fi plus, Roy Gregory commented that on his system “..the reduction in top end strain was immediately obvious, but the more I listened, the more I came to enjoy the increased colour, stability and presence of the musical picture. Swaping back to the unattenuated setup I was astonished to note just how stilted and forced the music seemed”. He concluded the review by saying that “..the problem is that until you try an attenuator ... you’ll remain blissfully ignorant of the problem. It’s just that you won’t be getting anything like the full enjoyment of your system”.

Rothwell have been producing Hi-Fi equipment for many years and have always been noted for their superb sound quality.
The December 1991 edition of Hi-fi news and record review commented on the Rothwell Passive pre-amp that “The sound is hard to describe as the Rothwell virtually disappears ...genuinely superb performance”. Although cosmetic changes have been made in the intervening years, the current Indus passive pre-amp is essentially the same as that reviewed.
You can read a full five star review of the Indus and it’s power amp stable mate, the Rubicon, at "Indus/Rubicon Best Buy" award from Hi-Fi Choice.
Visit the product page here for further information about the Indus or see the technical information page for a detailed explanation of how passive pre-amps work.
